The Kildare Local Electoral Area was redrawn as part of a boundary review in 2008. For the 2009 County Council elections, the area is as follows:
The area includes Newbridge, Kildare Town, Monasterevin, Athgarvan, Milltown, Allenwood, Allen, Kilmeague, Rathangan, Suncroft, Ballysax, Brownstown, Cutbush and the Curragh Camp. The area will elect 6 councillors, and with your help, Tony hopes to hold Cllr. Fionnuala Dukes’s seat. Fionnuala is retiring at this election.
The strict definition of the area given in the report of the review is as follows:
The electoral divisions of Ballysax East, Ballysax West, CIoncurry (in the former Rural District of Edenderry), Droichead Nua (Newbridge) Urban, Dunmurry, Feighcullen, Kildangan, Kildare, Killinthomas, Kilmeage North, Kilmeage South, Lackagh, Lullymore, Monasterevin, Morristownbiller, Oldconnell, Pollardstown, Quinsborough, Rathangan, Rathernan, Thomastown and that part of the electoral division of Droichead Nua (Newbridge) Rural west of the M9*.
*Initially this said M7, thus omitting Athgarvan.
